Mentions of what will later grow into 29b Enterprises can be traced all the way back to scientific endeavors of Ibn Sina and the first recorded and studied transit of Venus. Ever since, our engineers (exact job title changed throughout the ages) were there to do the less glamorous tasks that are the cornerstone of scientific research. Measuring, documenting, cataloging and observing in the time of imprecise instruments and unreliable recording media.
We were there - exploring the known reaches of the civilization with Ibn Batuta, as trusted advisors to Ida Pfeiffer or as deckhands on ill-fated Belgica with Adrien de Gerlache. We did the legwork - as custodians of the first sample of Welwitschia Mirabilis that made it from Namibia to Vienna and were the ones meticulously growing and maintaining cultures of C. Elegans to satisfy the apetite of science. When Cook famously sailed to Tahiti, we reprised our role in observation of yet another passing of Venus, but from a decidedly less glamorous place.
While not a corporation in a traditional sense, as prevailing fields of research changed and new ones developed - so did our organization and interests. As consultants and freelancers, we are not there to be remembered and admired, but to get the job done and get out of the way. One could say significance of our contributions has been questionable at best, but our collected experience has certainly resulted in a rather unique perspective.
First decade of the 21st century saw another pair of Venus transits and again triggered our tradition of reevaluating future endeavors. It was clear that this was the time of information and communication technologies. Along with those aiming to reshape the world as we know it, we were going to be there to make sense of it.
Not only is time always flowing, it is dynamic. As insects trapped in amber let us peer into the deep past, so do records kept herein attempt to stave off the oblivion.
